Escape With Dad to the Botanical Garden
The Atlanta garden offers special treats for dads and families.
Every year on the third Sunday in June, we celebrate all of the great things that our fathers have done, what they mean to us and who they are. But instead of taking dear old dad to see a baseball game or watch him simply putter around the local 18-hole golf course, we have a much better, greener idea!
This year the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, a few miles south of Norcross, will be hosting that special day for dads with an explosion of live bluegrass music, fun activities, games for the whole family, edible garden outdoor cooking demonstrations and tastes, and a fun Ride On Train.
But there’s even more to do at the garden. Enjoy the canopy walk, which takes you on a suspended footbridge through the more lush greenery of the park. The exhibit Orchid Daze presents a series of dazzling, gorgeous orchids, which are among the biggest collections in the U.S.

There’s also quite a bit of fine artwork on the grounds, including the kinetic sculpture “Airborne” by Moto Ohtake and Fritz Zimmer’s ultra-realistic bronze “Deer” sculpture.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is open 9a.m.-7p.m. this Father’s Day. Fathers receive half off the regular adult admission price, which is a nice little present for you too! Regular adult admission cost is $18.95; admission for children ages 4-17 is $12.95, while children under 3 are free. Click here to find out more.
