GAC Training Coordinator Named Coach of the Year
Gary Schofield, the director of the Sports Performance Training program at Greater Atlanta Christian Schools, has been given the 2012 National Strength and Conditioning Association Coach of the Year award.

The director of the Sports Performance Training program at Greater Atlanta Christian Schools has been named the 2012 National Strength and Conditioning Association Coach of the Year.
Gary Schofield was selected as this year’s recipient because of his "dedication to his student-athletes and the achievements Gary has made in the school’s strength and conditioning program," according to a statement from the school.
Schofield is entering his 16th year as a nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainer, in addition to being a strength and conditioning specialist. The GAC website details that he has coached and assisted in the athletic development for teams and organizations such as the Atlanta Hawks, Georgia Force, Gwinnett Gladiators, Atlanta Silverbacks, Georgia State Olympic Development Program, USA Track & Field Indoor Championships.

He has worked one-on-one with more than 500 high school athletes that have gone on to NCAA D1 scholarships, 100-plus professional athletes and three Olympians. He co-founded a private training facility in 1999.
