I sat quietly for the last decade plus as reality television dominated our viewing options. During that time, we saw show after show about competitions, police, doctors, and dating. To my surprise, millions of Americans watched these shows diligently. Meanwhile, good television, as far I define it, was hard to find. While reality television has not vanished, it has lessened greatly, and quality shows have filled the void left behind. We are living in the rebirth of the small screen. Shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Rec, Archer, Louie, The Good Wife, Modern Family, Wilfred, and The Mindy Project just to name a few, are pushing the proverbial envelope of television writing. Viewers of these shows know what I'm talking about. If you aren't watching these shows, you need to. Set your DVR and let it fill up. No need to spend $40 at the movies (seriously, why do movies cost so much?). I could go on explaining why you should support these shows, or other fine shows on television, but the truth is, I want you to support them so they don't get cancelled and ruin it for me. It can happen. Remember Arrested Development?
