Man Dies In Norcross Shooting

A suspect was located near the scene and was taken to the local jail.

NORCROSS, GA — A man was shot Wednesday afternoon in the 6000 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard, and a person was taken into custody, Norcross Police said.

Officers responded to the scene around 4:45 p.m., when they found the man with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He died at the scene, police said.

An unidentified suspect was located near the scene and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail, police said. Details leading to the shooting are unknown.

Norcross city officials said Thursday morning northbound lanes at Buford Highway, between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and North Norcross Tucker Road, were reopened after being closed overnight due to police activity.

The man's name has not been released, pending next of kin notification.
