Man Who Said He Is God Steals Car During Test Drive: Police

Police say the suspect was high on marijuana and had ecstasy tablets in his pocket.

NORCROSS, GA -- Guess he liked the car.

A man who told a salesman he was God was arrested Sunday after police say he stole a car during a test drive.

Gwinnett County Police were called at 2 p.m. Sunday by Auto Star dealership at 4395 Buford Highway in Norcross.

The caller said one of his employees had gone out on a test drive with a customer and that, soon after the drive began, the customer told the employee to get out of the car.

The customer, whom police identify as Blaane Andrew Oteo, 33, reportedly told the salesman that he is God and that he was going to kill the salesman and his boss.

Police got a description of the vehicle and were told the suspect was traveling south on Buford Highway toward Doraville.

An officer saw the vehicle, activated his blue lights and positioned his car in front of the stolen vehicle, according to a police news release. The suspect struck the officer's car on the driver side.

After Oteo refused to comply with officers' commands, he was Tased and taken into custody, police said.

Oteo, who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth, was under the influence of marijuana and had ecstasy in his pocket.

He was booked into Gwinnett County Jail and charged with robbery, theft by taking, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of a controlled substance, DUI and driving on a suspended license.
