Rick Berks, founder/owner of Youfit, has targeted Georgia for expansion – and he’s making good on his promise. His first club here, which opened in Norcross this past winter, and his second one, in Kennesaw, are both experiencing great success. Now he’s opening another club in Douglasville, at 9559 Highway 5 – his 56th in America. And clubs in Buford and Suwanee are coming soon.

Rick Berks’ business model is very different than those of traditional health clubs. There are no long-term contracts (you pay by the month). No intimidating bodybuilders or gym rats (the clubs aren’t designed for them). No singles scenes. No pressure to join – there are no salespeople. No pushy instructors. And no carbon footprint. In fact, these may be the “greenest” gyms in America - the floors, for example, are made of recycled tires or Nike “grind” (recycled sneakers!).
The “Youfit” name is meant to convey a very strong message. These are clubs where “you” can “fit” in, without feeling uncomfortable and without feeling pressure from pushy salespeople. And the fees are probably the lowest you’ll ever see for a first-rate fitness club.
“The Atlanta area’s proving to be a wonderful market for us,” Rick Berks says. “And we’re excited about the future.”
Berks is a successful entrepreneur with a colorful story, and he’s spreading his new concept across the country.
