Norcross To Host International Food and Music Festival
The event is part of "Welcoming Week," which encourages communities to embrace immigrants and foster opportunity for all.
NORCROSS, GA — Norcross is inviting visitors to take a trip around the globe without ever leaving town.
The Gateway International Food & Music Festival is set for Saturday, September 17, from 4-8 p.m. at Lillian Webb Park.
Sponsored by the City of Norcross and Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District, the event "will showcase the region’s best multicultural talent and highlight the rich cultural contributions of Gwinnett’s diverse communities," according to the city's website.

The festival will feature a variety of musical performers and showcase the area's cultural heritage through food, dance and music.
It will also have a craft market and a kids' zone with activities for children.

International and local food vendors will be selling tastes of their home countries and there will be a "pop up" Norcross Community Market where festival goers can sample the farmer's market's produce.
Performances will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a family movie in the park will begin at dark.
"At the City of Norcross, we strive to be an inclusive community where the culture is shaped by all members of the community and celebrated at events like the Gateway International Food & Music Festival," said Mayor Bucky Johnson. "Our partnership with Welcoming America echoes and celebrates Norcross’ commitment to inclusiveness and building a special kind of community."
Welcoming America is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that encourages people to build communities that embrace immigrants and foster opportunity for all.
The group's "Welcoming Week" is September 16-25. Last year, there were 245 events in over 80 communities during Welcoming Week, with more than 22,000 people participating.
