Norcross Weekend Planner: Valentine's Edition
Check out what's happening on this weekend of love in Norcross.

The weekend is starting a bit early for everyone with a little thing called Valentine's Day.
On Thursday, Historic Downtown Norcross is being transformed for Valentine's Day into a place for love, whether it's old, new, or not yet found. Dine at one of downtown's restaurants, take a ride on the horse-drawn carriage, smooch in the kissing booth, or get your vows renewed along South Peachtree Street. Shops also will have walk-up wine tastings, chocolates and roses to give away. The activities run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For the full details and locations, click here.
The "Wilson Pickett: 25 at the Top" exhibit at the Norcross Arts Center may have debuted last week, but the fun doesn't stop there. Every Friday this month, R&B artist Jerome Olds will hold a concert from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. as part of Black History Month. While listening to the tunes, check out the pictorial overview of Pickett’s career in original programs, clothing, posters, photos, records and more.

On Saturday, Lionheart Theatre Co. is kicking off its new monthly series, Lion's Tales: Storytelling With Bill and Jill. Taking place on the third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon for $2 per person, the Lion's Tales will feature Norcross residents Jill Swenson and Bill Brown, who are also members of the Southern Order of Storytellers. This Saturday the duo will introduce a tale called "The Mitten," a Ukrainian folk tale about a little boy named Nicky who goes out to play in the snow and loses his glove. After the story, kids will make pine cone bird feeders to take home. For more information, read the event page on Patch.
Also starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, the city of Norcross and the Georgia Psychological Assocation is hosting the 2013 Mind/Body Health Fair at Norcross High. The annual health and wellness fair will have informational tables on a variety of topics such as family, children, relationships, stress and workplace issues. Visitors will be able to see small presentations, too. Check out more about the free event here.
