The victim is believed to have been dragged about a quarter mile before the driver left him for dead.

NORCROSS, GA — Police have recovered the vehicle that struck a Norcross man early Saturday morning, before the driver drove off and left him for dead.

Gwinnett County Police announced Friday that the vehicle is at police headquarters. Investigators are still in the process of determining who the driver was and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ramon Carrion, 46, was found at a shopping center on South Norcross Tucker Road shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Investigators determined that he was probably hit by a vehicle some time between 11 p.m. and midnight near Danbury Drive — about a quarter mile from the shopping center.

Video surveillance would show Carrion was dragged from the spot he was hit to the shopping center, where he was dislodged by the vehicle.

The driver immediately fled the scene and never tried to help after discovering a person had been hit.
At the time, the vehicle was described as most likely a 1998-2001 Ford Explorer. It is black with either gold or gray trim around the tire wells and bumper.
