Property Management Program Set to Begin This Fall
Prepare for an exciting and rewarding career in the real estate industry
In a short eight-week class, you can learn what it takes to oversee site operations and leasing. The Fundamentals of Residential Property Management
program at KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education
prepares students for an exciting and rewarding career in the real
estate industry. The certificate-based program is set to begin on August
13.
“Students are not only learning theory, they are learning
how to apply it and what it looks like in real life,” said Deborah Westphal,
instructor and executive director of the Institute of Real Estate
Management. “Organizations like IREM, National Apartment
Association and Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation are
promoting careers in our industry as a way to attract more qualified
individuals into real estate.”
The program, which qualifies for
VA Education Benefits, is taught by some of the state’s top real estate
and property management professionals and is approved by the Georgia
Real Estate Commission. The format of the class is highly interactive.
Students participate in practice situations, discussions and case study
analyses.
“There’s a lot of information and very good teachers. All
the instructors are top-notch,” said Verlez Turner, graduate. “I’m in
real estate and I felt like I knew a lot about real estate. I felt I was
really going to know this class, but it is completely different. In
some aspects, yes, it is real estate, but the way the class is
structured it teaches you the proper ways of doing things.”
The
topics discussed throughout the class include apartment marketing and
leasing, fair housing laws, risk management, customer service
responsibilities, financial reporting, ethics and compliance as well as
the various opportunities in the field.
“The future is looking
brighter for the real estate industry, and training students to be
prepared for this influx of business opportunities will be a top
priority for the class,” Westphal said.
Don’t miss your opportunity to embark on a new career path. A free Open House
is scheduled on July 28th from 6-8:30 p.m. at the KSU Center. This
event will feature interactive information sessions exploring more than
50 professional certificate programs. Attendance to the event earns you
an exclusive 10 percent discount and the opportunity to be entered into a
Braves ticket drawing. Financial aid advisers will be available to
discuss payment plans, VA Education Benefits, WIOA, scholarships for
select programs and more. Registration is encouraged and can be completed at ccpe.kennesaw.edu or by calling 470-578-6765.
