Teen Injured In Norcross Police Shooting
The 16-year-old boy was accused of shooting at an officer multiple times during a foot chase Friday at Chase Lane.

NORCROSS, GA — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a police shooting Friday morning in the 1400 block of Chase Lane, Gwinnett County Police said.
Officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to Chase after a mother called 911 and told dispatch that her teenage son had a handgun and was potentially under the influence of drugs, police said.
A responding officer tried to make contact with the teen in a parking lot, when a foot chase ensued, police said. The officer commanded the teen drop his gun, police said.

The teen was accused of approaching a building, turning around and shooting multiple times at the officer. The officer then shot back, hitting the teen in his leg, police said.
A second responding officer and patrol supervisor rendered aid to the teen and placed a tourniquet on his leg, police said. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The teen's injury was non-threatening, and the officer was not injured, police said.
"Detectives later learned that the teen was in possession of two firearms when the officer first arrived on scene but discarded one during the foot pursuit after it appeared to have malfunctioned. Criminal charges against the teen are forthcoming," police said.
