Whistle Stop Farmers Market Begins Tomorrow

It's that time of year again, and some new goodies are in store.

It's that time of year again to stock up on local and organic foods right in downtown Norcross.

Voted one of the top five farmers markets in the state, the Whistle Stop Farmers Market opens this Tuesday, May 1, at 4 p.m.

More than 35 vendors will congregate to near the railroad tracks every Tuesday for the market's fourth year. Locals can look forward to the number of produce items to stock up on: strawberries, fresh-roasted coffee beans, homemade baked goods, jelly, seasonings, pastas and more.

In addition to the new farmers, a local cheese producer will have a spot this year. The King of Pops, famous in the metro area for its 150 flavors of handmade popsicles at food truck gatherings, also will set up shop.

To top it off, you can even get frozen dog treats for those furry critters this year.

Don't just go for the food, though: Live music, kids activities, health screenings and cooking demonstrations will take part in Whistle Stop, too. For the opening, nationally recognized saxophonist and jazz artist Eric Thomas will be playing music.

And check out the new monthly artist market, which will feature organic crafts and creative "must haves," according to a statement from the city.

The Whistle Stop Farmers Market will take place every Tuesday in Thrasher Park near the railroad tracks from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. For a full list of events and more information, check out the market's website at norcrossfarmersmarket.com. For a full list of vendors, check out the market list page.
