Woman Dies After Fire In Norcross Townhouse: Reports

Two others escape fire in Norcross townhouse; GBI is investigating the early-morning blaze, say media reports.

NORCROSS, GA β€” A woman died Tuesday after a fire broke out in a townhouse in the Norcross area, according to media reports. Two other people escaped the blaze, and authorities are investigating the cause, a Gwinnett County fire spokesman said.

The fire began at about 2:40 a.m. in a two-story unit in the 900 block of Summer Place, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The townhouse was fully involved in flames when Gwinnett firefighters arrived, the fire spokesman said. It took crews about 30 minutes to put out the fire.

Firefighters found the woman unconscious on the second floor of the townhouse, the AJC reported. She was rushed to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition, where she died a short time later.

The victim has not been identified. Two other occupants, identified as the woman’s adult son and his girlfriend, escaped the fire and were talking to police, the AJC reported.
