Intersections

Being close to an intersection, traffic tends to slow down which means we're the perfect location to discard unwanted items. Sure we get the usual fast food bags, but sometimes...

My family and I live on Lavista Road near the intersection of Clairmont. There's a flag by the sidewalk that says Enjoy Life.

We certainly do.  Most days.  We especially enjoy watching the traffic go by while eating dinner.  We've been known to place bets on whether or not someone will either get rear-ended or pulled over on Pinellas Trail.  That short street sees more action than GA 400.  I myself was rear-ended on Pinellas Trail one day.  I must have accidentally pressed the Saturn Be Gone button which is only found on 2001 and older models and is only for extreme parking emergencies.  She said she didn't see me.  Seriously?  I was sitting there, as in completely stopped.  Fortunately no real damage was done and my neck felt okay, so I let her go.

Another fun thing is gathering up the many gifts bestowed upon us by passers-by.  Being close to an intersection, traffic tends to slow down which means we're the perfect location to discard unwanted items.  Sure we get the usual fast food bags, but sometimes we get the real good stuff like porn and soiled underwear.  Not that there's anything wrong with that either.  I for one really enjoy running back to the house with the latest Boys Gone Wild and asking my husband, "Honey, is this yours?"  I'm the lucky one.  He found the underwear.  I must admit that I'm real curious about that.  Instead of feeling angry, I found myself simply wondering about the circumstances.  Did this poor bottomless soul eat some bad food on Lavista?  If so, where?  I need to know these things.  God forbid it should happen to me.  I'd have to throw mine out on Briarcliff.

All things considered, I love where I live. Lavista Road is alive on so many levels and it's all good except when it isn't...and then it's pause for thought, or a laugh.  So thank you.

By the way, if you get rear-ended on Pinellas Trail around dinner time come see me.  Chances are I'm a witness.  And if you have any unwanted Buddhas (I collect them) or vintage jewelry (I would love to have some), aim for the front porch!
