Community Corner

Make a Difference in a Child’s Life

(Alpharetta, GA – May 23, 2013)The number of foster children far outweighs the number of homes available to care for them. There are more than 7,000 Georgia children in foster care, and 188 Cherokee County children were in foster care last year. To help address our nation’s foster care crisis, FaithBridge Foster Care is reaching out to Cherokee County families to see if they might open their hearts and homes to be foster parents.

During the next 10 days, FaithBridge is offering information sessions and workshops, called Encounter FaithBridge, for those who might care for children from challenging homes. On Wednesday, May 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the City of Holly Springs Community Center (Depot) is hosting an information session with FaithBridge Foster Care to offer a foster family and
volunteer program. The Community Center is located at 164 Hickory Road, Holly Springs, GA, 30115.

On Tuesday, June 4, First Baptist Church of Woodstock will host an information session from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. located in B240 Fireside in B Building. The church is located at 11905 Highway 92 in Woodstock, GA, 30188.

Those interested in learning more about Christian foster care ministry are encouraged to attend an Encounter FaithBridge session. Encounter FaithBridge is an introduction to Christian foster care ministry and is also
part of the state requirement to be a foster or respite parent. Support team volunteers should also attend Encounter FaithBridge to learn how they can serve
foster children by assisting with meals, materials goods and services, transportation, childcare and more. Through a local church, Christian families and the local community can make a difference in the lives of Cherokee County’s
foster children.

FaithBridge Foster Care is a Christ-centered, tax-exempt organization intent on changing U.S. foster care. FaithBridge’s strategy is to mobilize, organize and equip local churches and communities to solve the country’s foster care crisis. For more information on FaithBridge, please call 678.690.7100 or visit www.faithbridgefostercare.org
