Canton Road Redevelopment Group Picks Board
The Canton Road Redevelopment Foundation, Inc. will work towards attracting businesses to the Canton Road Corridor in Northeast Cobb.

Several leaders in the business, financial, and educational fields have been elected to the Board of Directors of theΒ Canton Road Redevelopment Foundation, Inc. an organization that will become a .
Frank Wigington, President of the Northeast Cobb Business Association, will serve as the president of the organization. Andy Campbell of Columbia Properties will serve as vice president.Β Bay Breeze's Clarice Spica was voted as the group's secretary, and Chuck Martin of Arylessence, Inc.Β will be the treasurer and head the finance committee, joined by Community Bank of the South's Mike Wickes. Carol Brown of Canton Road Neighbors will serve as the at-large member.
District 3 Commissioner JoAnn Birrell is involved in the group but will not serve on the board as a voting member once the organization becomes a non-profit. Additionally, Principal Maurine Kozol of will provide an educator's opinion to the commission.

There was a brief discussion on the territory the organization should cover. The original plan that encompassed most of District 3 was thought by some to be too large. The amended coverage area spans from Canton to Sandy Plains roads, with the northern border set by Highway 92. . It is expected that the bylaws will include a clause that will allow for the expansion of the organization's coverage area at the board's discretion.
The next step in the process of forming the organization is drafting bylaws and getting the proper paperwork filed with the IRS. Birrell will draft the bylaws, and CPA Bob Abernathy is continuing to file the forms required.
