Churches Asked to Ring Bells for School Shooting Victims

Friday will mark one week since 20 children and six adults were killed when a gunman opened fire in a Newtown, Conn., elementary school.

Local churches are being asked to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Twenty-six peopleβ€”20 of them childrenβ€”were killed Friday when a man opened fire inside the school. The suspected shooter, 20-year-old Adam Lanza,Β committed suicideΒ andΒ his mother was found deadΒ at the homeΒ where the two lived,Β according toΒ Newtown Patch.

Local cities are joining in a Georgia Municipal Association initiative toΒ encourage their local churches to ring their bells 26 times on Friday at 9:30 am in memory of the twenty children and six adults who lost their lives during the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. We appreciate your consideration of this request as our entire nation grieves over this horrific tragedy.
