Kell Students Sign for Scholarships

Five students "sign" for sports scholarships to college.

It's the time of year when outstanding high school students are snatched up by colleges.

Five Kell High School students had a special "Signing" ceremony to celebrate their college scholarships for sports. At various times throughout the end of the school year, students celebrate their special achievement through a Signing ceremony.

Today, the following students were joined by family, coaches and peers to honor their advancement as an upcoming college athlete.

  • Β Emily Dixon - Basketball Scholarship to Northern Oklahoma, Tonkawa OK.
  • Brett Gillespie - Football Scholarship to North Greenville, Tigerville, SC.
  • Chris Goershel - Baseball Scholarship to Piedmont College, Demorest, GA.
  • Parker Madden - Baseball Scholarship to Snead State, Boaz, AL.
  • Samantha Quarles - Softball Scholarship to West Georgia, Carrollton, GA.

Emily Dixon was point guard and had the highest 3 point shooting percentage. She was the team leader and was on the All Cobb County Team.

Parker Madden was theΒ RegionalΒ Player of the Year and was in theΒ Club All Stars.

Chris Goershel was the Co Regional Pitcher of the year. Was in the Georgia Dougout All Star game.

Samantha Quarles led the team in triples. She played 2nd base and had the 2nd highest batting average on the team - .433. She had 39 hits, 22 runs and 2 triples.

Brett Gillespie was 1st Team All State and Cobb County Lineman of the Year.

This is just a sampling of the hard working and focused teens we have right here in Northeast Cobb.
