No Hookah in Northeast Cobb
A proposal to operate a Hookah bar and lounge on Sandy Plains Road was rejected Tuesday by the Cobb commission.

MARIETTA, GA -- A controversial proposal to allow a Hookah bar and lounge to operate in Northeast Cobb was rejected by the county commission on Tuesday.
The Cobb board of commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve to Kasbah Bar & Bistro but to reject its proposal to operate as a Hookah bar, reports the AJC.
Hookah sharing and smoking is not permitted within 100 feet from the closest subdivision.

Several hundred nearby residents were opposed to the proposal, and an online petition was launched.
People opposed to the business say hookah lounges are hotbeds of crime, increase the likelihood of drunk driving, and overall are family unfriendly establishments.

Kasbah is seeking to open in the old Donny's/Pizza Hut spot at the intersection of Sandy Plains Road and Highway 92.
