Cobb County Board Of Commissioners Approves Emergency Funding To Nonprofits For Coronavirus

The Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved the Families First Agreement contract with the Atlanta Regional Commission to provide nutrition services to Cobb County seniors under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) through the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), is providing Federal funding to assist with the provision of additional food services to the senior citizens of Cobb County. As a service provider, Cobb County Senior Services (CSS) is receiving an award in the amount of $277,170.43. This funding will allow Cobb Senior Services to allocate more resources towards providing additional Congregate and Home Delivered Meals.
βWe are excited to receive this funding that will give us the ability to provide a variety of food options for seniors in our community, from frozen meals to food boxes that include canned items and dry foods, to fresh produce and even meals from local restaurants,β said Senior Services Director Jatunn Gibson. βThe staff of Cobb Senior Services is committed to seeking resources and increasing our partnerships to meet the needs of the seniors in Cobb County.β

The contract extends from May 1, 2020 through September 2021.
