Northeast Cobb Schools Improve CRCT Scores
The school-by-school results of last year's standardized test, which is taken by every Cobb third through eighth grader, were released today.

The Georgia Department of Education released the school-level test scores of the 2012 Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) for all state schools on Thursday.
Overall, Georgia schools saw a third consecutive year of improvement, with English/language arts, social studies and reading skills increasing. Math and science scores as a whole stayed the same or declined only slightly.
The tests are a crucial part of determining whether or not a school meets its Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) goals, but the importance of this 12-year-old test will diminish in the coming years as Georgia schools transition to the , which is being implemented by 47 states.

According to figures reported by the Marietta Daily Journal,Β Cobb third grade students either improved or maintained their pass rates in all testing areas. Fifth grade students improved in four of five disciplines, with a slight drop in math pass rates. Eighth graders improves pass rates in all areas, with a 5.5 percent increase in the science discipline.
βIβm pleased that weβre making progress,β Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa told the MDJ, referring to the county-wide scores. βWe have a lot of good people, good instructional programs. β¦ thereβs a lot of engagement in the classroom.β
