Viewfinder: Open House at Sprayberry
Parents and students turned out Thursday to tour the renovated Northeast Cobb high school.
Parents enjoyed free food from the newly renovated cafeteria at the open house Thursday.
Sprayberry announced that all academy wing renovations are finished and include new desks, floors, ceilings and smartboards.
The new 30,000-square-foot fine arts center is completed, funded by SPLOST.

Paula Axford, a ninth-grade literature and 10th-grade world literature teacher at Sprayberry whose son, David, is a student at the school, greeted parents and talked about the new school year.
“I’ve been a teacher at Sprayberry for eight years now, and we’re all very excited about the new renovations to the school. It’s a great use of our SPLOST dollars,” Axford said.

Media paraprofessional Barbara Beaver and media specialist Kelly Paynter manned the school book fair, which had been going on all week.
“Sprayberry is the first high school in Cobb County to host a book fair (this year), and it’s been quite successful,” Paynter said. “All week we’ve been posting trivia questions for the students and teachers. Whoever answers the question correctly receives a $10 gift card.”
Scholastic provided the books for the fair at a discount. Unsold books were returned to the company.
