Paula Axford, a ninth-grade literature and 10th-grade world literature teacher at Sprayberry whose son, David, is a student at the school, greeted parents and talked about the new school year.

β€œI’ve been a teacher at Sprayberry for eight years now, and we’re all very excited about the new renovations to the school. It’s a great use of our SPLOST dollars,” Axford said.

Media paraprofessional Barbara Beaver and media specialist Kelly Paynter manned the school book fair, which had been going on all week.

β€œSprayberry is the first high school in Cobb County to host a book fair (this year), and it’s been quite successful,” Paynter said. β€œAll week we’ve been posting trivia questions for the students and teachers. Whoever answers the question correctly receives a $10 gift card.”

Scholastic provided the books for the fair at a discount. Unsold books were returned to the company.
