Oconee County has placed Catlyn Vickers, Animal Services Department director, on administrative leave with pay while the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency conducts an audit of pharmaceuticals at the Animal Services Department.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office requested the audit by the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency following an initial investigation by the Sheriff’s Office of a discrepancy of $398 in the account of the Animal Service Department.

The county had requested the Sheriff’s Office to investigate that discrepancy.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the County announced the two ongoing investigations and the decision to put Vickers on administrative leave in a joint press release posted on the county web site on Thursday.

“This action should not be taken as any indication of wrongdoing on the part of the director,” the news release said. “It is simply to dispel any notion of interference on her part.”
