Bites Nearby: Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Summertime beckons friends and families to share meals together and barbecue is one of our country’s favorite meals to enjoy with loved ones. If you don’t have the time or inclination to make your own ‘cue, you can rest assured that is on the job.

Founded in 1941 in Texas, the Dickey’s chain has mastered the art of slow smoking their meats to perfection every night. The right balance of juicy tender meats, topped with their family recipe barbecue sauce makes for a meal to remember.

Barbecue sandwiches are dressed with pickles, onions and barbecue sauce. Customers can make it a sandwich plate and add two homestyle sides to the order. Choices include waffle iron fries, creamy coleslaw, Caesar salad, fried onion tanglers, green beans, with bacon, original potato salad, barbecue beans, jalapeño beans, fried okra, mac and cheese, baked potato casserole and brunswick stew.

Meat plates are served with two homestyle sides, pickles, onions, a roll and barbecue sauce. Sizes range from a quarter pound plate to a two meat plate. Customers may choose from Southern pulled pork, Virginia style ham, old recipe Polish sausage, signature chopped beef brisket, tender turkey breast, spicy hot links, sliced beef brisket, marinated chicken breast and pull off the bone pork ribs.
