D Day the Sixth of June. This date is a memorable one for those of us of a certain age. Our fighting forces swarmed onto the beaches at Normandy; the invasion of Europe was under way. I was on the flight line at the Kingsville, Texas, Naval Air Station and got the news from loudspeakers blaring away, hanger to hanger. What did it portend?
