Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Increase Again Locally and Across State

The Daily Status Report of the Department of Public Health on Wednesday added 58 new COVID-19 cases in the Northeast Health District.

The seven-day rolling average of added confirmed COVID-19 cases increased both in the Northeast Health District and across the state with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report on Wednesday.

The Northeast Health District added 58 new cases, including 11 cases in Clarke County and two in Oconee County, and the seven-day rolling average increased to 31.4 cases per day from 27.7 on Tuesday.

Across the state, the Daily Status Report counted 1,703 new cases on Wednesday, the third highest ever recorded, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 1,335.9 on Wednesday from 1,228.6 on Tuesday.

The state has added more than 1,000 cases in five of the last six days.

The Northeast Health District added no new deaths attributed to COVID-19 with the release of the Daily Status Report on Wednesday, and the seven-day rolling average dropped below 1 for he first time since May 14.

The Department of Community Health did report one new COVID-19 death on Wednesday in its Long-Term Care Facility Report in a nursing home in Jackson County. It is not clear that nursing home deaths are ever fully reflected in the Department of Public Health tally in the Daily Status Report.
