County Sets IT And Social Media Policies
The social media policy puts control in the hands of the county administrator.

Oconee County Commissioners gave tentative approval on Tuesday to a modified county policy for information technology and established for the first time a policy for social media use by county employees and volunteers acting on behalf of the county.
The social media policy concentrates authority in the hands of County Administrator Justin Kirouac, who must approve creation and use of departmental social media accounts or designate someone to approve them.
Departments and officials using social media accounts will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring them.

The commissioners put the two policies on the consent agenda for approval at their regular meeting on Tuesday, when they also will take up a rezone request to develop a commercial shopping center on SR 316 at Mars Hill Road.
At the meeting on Tuesday, Commission Chair John Daniell announced that the next Town Hall Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Oconee Veterans Park, and the county received a report on the Fiscal Year 2018 Audit saying the finances are sound.
