COVID-19 Cases, Deaths, Hospitalizations All Increase On Tuesday

The disease also spread more widely at long-term care facilities.

The seven-day rolling average of added COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths attributed to the disease increased on Tuesday both in the 10-county Northeast Health District that includes Oconee and Clarke counties and in the state overall.

In the 24 long-term care facilities in the Northeast Health District with COVID-19 contamination, the number of deaths and the number of residents with COVID-19 increased, as did the number of staff with the disease.

Across the state, the number of long-term care facilities with COVID-19 among their residents and/or staff increased.

The number of Critical Care Beds in use in area hospitals increased on Tuesday, as they did across the state.

The number of Confirmed COVID-19 Hospitalizations also increased for the 10th day in a row, and the number of ventilators in use increased on Tuesday, as it has for seven of the last 10 days.

The small pieces of good news in the reports issued on Tuesday by the Georgia agencies providing information on the pandemic were overwhelmed by these large negatives.

The percentage of viral test that produced a positive verdict did decline as testing increased.
