COVID-19 Cases And Deaths Increase In Region And In Georgia

The Friday Department of Public Health Daily Status Report listed 59 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Northeast Health District.

Both the Northeast Health District and the state as a whole reported large increases in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and increases in deaths attributed to the disease in the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report for Friday.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases of COVID-19 and added deaths attributed to COVID-19 increased both in the 10-county Northeast Health District of the Department of Public Health and across the whole of Georgia.

Each of the 10 counties in the Northeast Health District added at least one new confirmed case of COVID-19 from the Thursday to the Friday report, with Oconee County adding three cases and Clarke County adding 16.

The district as a whole added 59 new cases, and the seven-day rolling average jumped from 24.0 on Thursday to 26.9 on Friday.

The Daily Status Report listed two new COVID-19 deaths in the Northeast Health District, with the death of an 80-year-old female in Barrow County with no chronic condition and of a 78-year-old female in Jackson County with a known chronic condition.

The two newly reported deaths in the Northeast Health District brought the seven-day rolling average of added deaths to 2.7 on Friday from 2.4 on Thursday.
