COVID-19 Cases Increase In State, Region; Hospitalizations Up
The Northeasts Health District added 26 new confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased again on Monday, both in the state as a whole and in the 10-county Northeast Health District.
The state added 1,227 new confirmed cases of the disease in the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report on Monday, and the 10-county Northeast Health District contributed 26 of those cases.
The seven-day rolling average of added COVID-19 cases for the state increased from 1,002.9 cases on Sunday to 1,073 cases on Monday. For the Northeast Health District, the seven-day rolling average increased from 23.7 on Sunday to 24.1 on Monday.

Oconee County added one new case, and Clarke County added 10.
The state of Georgia added five deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the Monday Daily Status Report, and the Northeast Health District did not add any new deaths from the disease.

The Department of Community Health Long-Term Care Facility Report on Monday added one death in the Northeast Health District, at a nursing home in Walton County. That death was not picked up in the Daily Status Report, which often misses deaths at area long-term care facilities.
The Department of Community Health did not report any additional COVID-19 patients or staff in the Monday Report, which included new data following the release of the last report on Friday.
The Department of Public Health and Department of Community Health Reports, viewed in tandem, indicate that most of the new cases and deaths being added in the Northeast Health District now are coming from outside long-term care facilities.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency on Monday, in its statewide Situation Report COVID-19, indicated that Current Confirmed COVID-19 Hospitalizations had increased to 1,000, up from the low of 783 on June 7, and the number of ventilators in use had increased to 896 from its low of 796 on June 14.
