Crime Report: Road Sign Vandals, Theft and Criminal Trespass
The following information was gathered from Oconee County Sheriff's Office reports and highlights incidents reported between Sept. 26 - Sept. 29.

Vandals struck Ruth Jackson Road in Bogart overnight Sunday to Monday. Deputies called to the scene found 35 roadway signs turned upside down and reattached to the post. It happened sometime between 7 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The Oconee County Road Department was dispatched to fix the signs.
As of Wednesday, no suspects had been identified, Sheriff Scott Berry told the Athens Banner-Herald.
"It's not funny. It's ridiculous," Berry told the newspaper. "Those signs are there to save lives and reduce car crashes. It's not a joke."

Someone swiped 15 batteries, collectively valued at $1,800, from the on Snows Mill Road sometime between 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and 9 a.m. Sept. 26. The batteries had been installed on various pieces of equipment and others had been visibly stored under a shelter.

Deputies found a broken window in the panel of a back door at Thursday after responding to an alarm about 1:30 a.m. A key holder checked the area and no items of value were missing, but several doors inside were open that should have been closed. Deputies tried to dust for fingerprints but believe suspect(s) may have worn powered latex gloves to prevent leaving prints at the scene.
