The kick-off reception for a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of desegregation at UGA. On January 9, 1961, Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne-Hunter-Gault became the first African-American students to register for classes at UGA. Honored guests at the reception will be members of the Holmes family, Hunter-Gault and Mary Frances Early, the first African-American to earn a degree from UGA. The reception has been moved from UGA's Tate Center to the Magnolia Ballroom in the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
