The Oconee County Celebrity Softball Game and Home Run Derby is a fundraiser sponsored by the Oconee Historical Society and the Rev. John Andrew Chapter of the DAR. Proceeds will go to help pay for a new Watkinsville City Cemetery entrance sign, which will be unveiled at the cemetery bicentennial celebration this September.
This event is will feature a home run derby and softball game, made up of two teams of Oconee County dignitaries. County Commission Chair Melvin Davis will head up the Thrillers and Watkinsville Mayor Joe Walter will head up the Rockets. Come see the commissioners, members of the four city councils in the county, the sheriff and police chief, school board members, the school superintendent and other Oconee officials like you have never seen them before. This will be fun for the entire family, so bring the kids. Raffle tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks will be available for purchase. The home run derby will begin at 6:00pm and the softball games will begin at 7 p.m. For additional information write bj101246@gmail.
