Extreme Fireworks Wants To Open A Store In Oconee County Shopping Center

The request will be before the Oconee County Planning Commission when it meets at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Extreme Fireworks of Alpharetta is asking Oconee County to allow operation of a year-round retail fireworks store in Manders Crossing shopping center at Cliff Dawson Road and Mars Hill Road.

The request will be before the Oconee County Planning Commission when it meets at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Courthouse in Watkinsville and will be joined on the agenda by a rezone request for auto dealerships on SR 316 at Virgil Langford Road and for a reception hall on Hog Mountain Road.

Extreme Fireworks plans to use existing space in the Manders Crossing strip mall and is not seeking a rezone request.

The property already is zoned for business use, but a retail fireworks operation requires a special use approval that has to be voted on by the Oconee County Board of Commissioners.

Review by the Planning Commission is the first step in the approval process. The request is scheduled to be before the Board of Commissioners on June 7.
