Flames From Outdoor Burn Spread to Garage Siding
Fire gets out of control for a homeowner burning weeds around an Adams Road house, according to Oconee's fire chief.

Oconee County volunteer firefighters had to intervene last week when a fire set by a homeowner that was intended to burn weeds spread to siding on the wall of a garage in the 1000 block of Adams Road.
Fire Chief Bruce Thaxton said the call came just after 11 a.m. on April 2. Firefighters removed a small amount of siding and insulation from the garage and wet the smoldering fire.
In other news, firefighters were called to check two houses on April 3 after reports of lightning strikes, one in the 4000 block of Hog Mountain Road and the other in the 1000 block of Dials Mill Spur. No damage was found other than a few breakers tripped in the electrical panel of each house, Thaxton said.
