Growth Of COVID-19 Cases In NE Health District Outpaced State
The Department of Public Health listed 180 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, setting a new record.

The Department of Public Health on Saturday reported 180 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the 10-county Northeast Health District, pushing the seven-day rolling average of added cases to 155.7, a new record.
Oconee County added nine cases and Clarke County added 29. Each of the other eight counties in the District also added cases.
The seven-day rolling average of added cases had been 153.1 on Friday, also a record.

The Department of Health, in its Daily Status Report, did not report any new deaths from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths remained unchanged at 0.6.
Across the last month, confirmed cases of COVID-19 have increased by 151.7 percent in the Northeast Health District, while deaths have increased by 24.1 percent.

In Clarke County, cases increased by 195.1 percent from July 1 to Aug. 1, and deaths increased by 13.3 percent.
In Oconee County, cases increased by 143.4 percent, while deaths increased by 50.0 percent, the highest rate of increase in deaths in the 10-county District.
The Northeast Health District had a higher rate of growth in the last month in cases than the state (with a 125.6 percent increase), but a lower growth rate in deaths (35.3 percent in state).
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency stated in its Situation Report COVID-19 released late on Saturday that 10 Critical Care Beds were available in area hospitals, up from five on Friday and one on Thursday. Hospitals file their data on beds in use by noon on the date of the report.
