The Guardian Angel Project fundraiser

The Guardian Angel Project fundraiser at Sunshine Village Gallery.

In our lives, we are each touched with tragedies, with heartache, and with despair. With love, joy and beauty. There are times when we feel alone, and then there are times when we can feel God’s presence, when we can feel His angels holding us, caring for us, watching over us.

And this is where our idea for the Guardian Angel Project came in.

Our very dear friend, Sharon Markey Wilkins (someone I’ve known since I was about 11 years old), was a victim of domestic violence for many years. And recently her life was taken when her estranged husband brutally murdered her in her mother’s home and then he took his own life. This was one of those tragedies that leaves you feeling empty and filled with sorrow. Especially because not only was Sharon’s life taken, but her daughter, 14 year old Kathleen, became an orphan that day.

Because of the situation surrounding Sharon’s life, provisions had not yet been made for this child’s future and the Markey family had to make swift decisions for her wellbeing and care. And here’s where you come in.

Sharon needs some earthly guardian angels to help her family and aid in creating a bright future for this sweet girl.
You see, an angel painting with a great likeness to Sharon (as pictured with above), was shared on Facebook just a few days after her death by artist Laurel Genteman. It seemed to be no coincidence to my mother Cumby (who immediately purchased this painting), and it has become our guiding light in this mission to be Kathleen’s guardian angels on earth, and to extend our love and support to her and her family with angels guiding our steps every way.
