Man Charged with Attempting to Steal $1,200 Worth of Pet Meds from Oconee County Walmart

A South Carolina man has been charged in Oconee County, Georgia with felony shoplifting for allegedly trying to steal over $1,200 worth of flea and tick medicine.

Darrin Broadus Lawson, 32, of Taylors, South Carolina was booked on June 14 after a Walmart security guard told deputies he witnessed Lawson conceal  32 packages of the pet meds and attempted to leave the store, according to an incident report.  Also recovered was $32 worth of fishing lures.

Another suspect managed to flee before deputies arrived.

It was the second time in as many days that Walmart security reported a felony shoplifting incident.

Electronics and fishing gear valued at $1,212 were taken from the store sometime between 1:30-2 a.m. on June 12.  No contact was made with suspects in that case.
