NE Health District Adds 494 COVID-19 Cases, 7 Deaths From Disease

The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased in the District. Area hospitals report an increase in COVID-19 patients.

Here is a summary of data from the state health reports on Wednesday for the 10-county Northeast Health District, which includes Oconee and Clarke counties.

The Northeast Health District added 494 COVID-19 cases, pushing up the seven-day rolling average of added cases.
The District added seven deaths, two at a nursing home in Clarke County.
That same facility also reported seven new cases of COVID-19 among its residents and two new cases among its staff.
Long-term care facilities in the District added six resident deaths, 26 new cases among residents, and 19 new cases among staff.
Oconee County added 32 news COVID-19 cases and Clarke County added 99.
The number of patients at area hospitals with COVID-19 is 238, the most ever reported.
The number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals has increased each day since Dec. 23 and is up from 148 patients two weeks ago—a growth of 60.8 percent.
