NE Health District Adds 53 COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths From Disease

The seven-day rolling average of added cases continues to decline in the District.

The Northeast Health District added only 53 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, traditionally a slow day of reporting, but the number of added cases was lower than a week ago, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped for the sixth day in a row.

Oconee County added two cases with the release of the Daily Status Report, and Clarke County added 19. Even with the small number of cases, all of the remaining eight counties in the 10-county district except Greene and Elbert added cases.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped from 133.3 on Saturday to 124.9 on Sunday.

The number of molecular tests with a known verdict dropped in both Oconee and Clarke counties on Sunday. In Oconee County, 7.3 percent of the tests were positive, while in Clarke 6.1 percent of the tests were positive.

The seven-day rolling average of the percentage of cases that were positive was 7.8 in Oconee County on Sunday and 8.7 in Clarke County. Those averages had been 8.4 percent in Oconee County and 9.2 percent in Clarke County on Saturday.

The Northeast Health District did not add any COVID-19 deaths in the Sunday Department of Public Health release of the Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dropped to 2.3 on Sunday from 2.7 on Saturday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) on Sunday reported that area hospitals had 54 COVID-19 patients, down from 55 on Saturday, 57 ICU beds in use out of a capacity of 70, down from 64 on Saturday, and 28 adult ventilators in use, the same as on Saturday.
