NE Health District Adds One COVID-19 Death And 110 Cases

Morgan County added only its third death from the virus.

The Department of Public Health reported one new COVID-19 death in the 10-county Northeast Health District on Tuesday and 110 new confirmed cases of the disease.

The new death was of a 65-year-old male in Morgan County without a chronic condition. It is only the third death from COVID-19 in the county since the pandemic began.

Morgan County has the lowest ratio of deaths per population of the District, just below Elbert County, which also has three deaths from the virus.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths in the District fell to 1.3 on Tuesday from 1.4 on Monday. On Tuesday a week ago the District added two deaths.

With the addition of the 110 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the seven-day rolling average of added cases in the District increased to 81.9 on Tuesday from 76.7 on Monday.

Every county in the District added at least one case except Oglethorpe. Oconee County added five cases and Clarke County added 29.

The Department of Public Health data file once again listed no molecular tests conducted in either Oconee or Clarke counties on Tuesday. The file seems to be in error.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that area hospitals had 62 COVID-19 patients, the same as on Sunday and Monday, 56 ICU beds in use out of a capacity of 70, the same as on Monday, and 29 adult ventilators in use, down one from Monday.

The Department of Community Health’s Long-Term Care Facility Report for Tuesday listed no new COVID-19 cases or deaths at the Northeast Health District’s 35 long-term care facilities covered by the report.
