NE Health District Adds One COVID-19 Death And 96 New Cases
The University of Georgia reported drops in positive tests.

With the addition of one new COVID-19 death and 96 new cases of the disease in the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report on Wednesday, the seven-day rolling averages of deaths and cases in the Northeast Health District edged up just lightly.
The death was of a male in Jackson County with a chronic condition listed as 90 plus in age. Jackson County now has 33 deaths, and the Northeast Health District has 255.
The seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased from 1.3 deaths on Tuesday to 1.4 on Wednesday.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased from 81.9 on Tuesday to 82.0 on Wednesday with the addition of the 96 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Morgan and Elbert counties did not add cases, but the other eight counties in the Northeast Health District did. Oconee County added 11 cases and Clarke County added 20.

The University of Georgia on Wednesday reported that the number of new COVID-19 positive tests recorded at the University or at Athens and other local community clinics for University faculty, students or staff dropped to 123 during the week of Sept. 14 to Sept. 20, down from 270 a week earlier.
The positivity rate for tests of those without symptoms at Legion Field dropped to 1.95 for Week 7 of the University session from 3.55 for Week 6. The number of tests also dropped from 1,974 for Week 6 to 1,490 for Week 7.
The Department of Community Health on Wednesday reported three new cases of COVID-19 among staff of the 35 long-term care facilities in the Northeast Health District with infections from the virus.
The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Wednesday that area hospitals had 62 COVID-19 patients, the same figure reported since Sunday, 66 ICU beds in use out of a capacity of 70, up from 56 on Tuesday, and 29 adult ventilators in use, the same as on Tuesday.
