NE Health District Adds Record 11 Deaths From COVID-19

One of those deaths was in Oconee County, and four were in Clarke County.

Below is a summary of COVID-19 data on Wednesday for Oconee and Clarke counties and for the entire 10-county Northeast Health District.

  • The Northeast Health District added 11 confirmed deaths from COVID-19, a new record for a single day.
  • One of those deaths was in Oconee County, and four were in Clarke County.The Northeast Health District added 657 new cases of COVID-19.The seven-day rolling averages of added deaths and added cases increased.
  • Oconee County added 51 new cases of COVID-19 and Clarke County added 145.
  • In both counties, the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased.
  • The University of Georgia reported 283 positive tests for COVID-19 in its first report for the new calendar year.
