OMG PD: Robbery Thwarted When Woman Vomits on Attacker

Man allegedly jumped her in the parking lot at Georgia Square Mall in Athens.

An attempt to snatch a Watkinsville woman’s purse in the parking lot of the Georgia Square Mall ended suddenly when she apparently vomited on the robber.

The Athens-Clarke Police said in a media release that the woman was walking to her vehicle around 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, when a male jumped her and attempted to take her purse.

β€œThe male struck in her face and put his hand on her throat while pushing her up against another vehicle. She said that during a struggle over her purse, she threw up on the suspect and he let go of her.”

The woman told police the man was laughing during the assault. He left in a silver sedan, possibly a Toyota or Honda.

The suspect, who wore a black ski mask, was described as 5 feet 10 or 11 with an average build.
