Update: Two Burglary Suspects in Custody

Neighbors helped capture one and a K-9 unit assisted in the search for the other Wednesday night around Julian Drive, authorities report.

Two burglary suspects were taken into custody by the Wednesday night with the help of citizens and a K-9 unit.

Chief Deputy Lee Weems said a resident of the 1200 block of Julian Drive arrived home to find the door to the house open and items, including a computer, cell phone and firearm, missing.

Units were on the scene in less than two minutes, he said, when a second 911 call came in with information that two neighbors in the community had chased two male suspects carrying bags into the woods.

The residents captured one of the suspects and deputies apprehended the other just after 8 p.m following a brief search with the help of a K-9 unit.  Both suspects are juveniles, Weems said. 

"The credit for catching them goes to the citizens," he said.

Most, if not all, of the stolen items were recovered.

It's not the first time burglars have hit the area in recent weeks.

A home in the 1600 block of Julian Drive was burglarized sometime between 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 1, according to an incident report. A computer and iPhone 4, collectively valued at $700, were taken and there were signs of forced entry. That case is under investigation.

An of an 1800-block Julian Drive residence was reported on Dec. 16.
