One Man Arrested Following Home Invasion, A Second Remains on the Lam

's deputies arrested one man on armed robbery charges and are searching for another who may have been involved in a home invasion Sunday at a residence on Alpine Court.
Around 10:40 p.m., a man carrying a pistol entered the home and tried to rob the residents, according to a news release. A man who lived there began to wrestle with the suspect to get control of the gun, and several shots were fired. A female resident struck and injured both men with a baseball bat during the struggle. They were later treated for their injuries.
Mark Anthony Sims, 30, of Athens, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a crime.

A second man believed to be the driver of a getaway vehicle escaped on foot after deputies blocked the car, which turned out to be stolen out of Clarke County, the news release stated.
Authorities believe the motivation behind the home invasion was drug-related and investigations are ongoing. Additional charges are pending.
