Rolling Averages COVID Cases, Deaths Hold Steady In NE District

The Daily Status Report shows an increase in COVID-19 cases at area hospitals.

The Northeast Health District added 43 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and one death with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report. The seven-day rolling averages of cases and deaths remained unchanged from Sunday.

The death was of a 70-year-old male in Oglethorpe County without a chronic condition. Oglethorpe now has 13 deaths from the corona virus, and the Northeast Health District has 299.

The seven-day rolling average was 1.4 deaths from the disease per day both on Sunday and Monday.

The 43 added cases in the 10-county Northeast Health District was just one fewer than was added on Monday of last week, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases was 105.9 on Monday compared with 106.0 on Sunday

Each of the 10 counties in the District added cases on Monday except for Greene and Elbert counties.

Oconee County added four cases and Clarke County added nine. The seven-day rolling average of added cases was the same on Monday as on Sunday in Oconee County and increased slightly in Clarke County.

The recent increases in COVID-19 cases in the area is in evidence in the hospital data released on Monday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (67) increased by seven from the day before and has increased each of the last three days.

GHA and GEMA also reported that the number of ICU beds in use (64) increased by two from the day before and by four from Saturday, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (21) decreased by one from the day before.

The Department of Community Health, in its Monday Long-Term Care Facility Report, listed one new COVID-19 Positive Staff in the 36 facilities in the Northeast Health District covered by the report. That was at Great Oaks personal care home in Walton County.
