State Reports COVID-19 Spread At Oconee Nursing Home

Northeast Health District Adds 43 confirmed COVID-19 Cases On Tuesday and one COVID-19 death.

The 10-county Northeast Health District of the Department of Public Health added 43 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 with the 1 p.m. Daily Status Report on Tuesday, bringing the seven-day rolling average of cases up from 15.9 to 21.7.

Elbert County added 22 cases, Walton County added seven, Barrow County added five, Jackson County added four, and each of the other counties, except Morgan County, added one.

The Daily Status Report also added another death attributed to COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District with the passing of a 74-year-old male with chronic conditions in Walton County.

The total number of deaths in the Northeast Health District attributed to the disease stands at 47, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths is 1.1, the same as on Monday.

The Department of Community Health Long-Term Care Facility Report issued on Monday evening showed an increase of 60 in COVID Positive Residents at the 17 long-term care facilities in the Northeast Health District with COVID-19 cases.

The Department of Community Health report also listed four new deaths at the nursing and personal care homes in the 10-county region since its report on May 15 and the one on the 18th, and an increase in two in the number of COVID Positive Staff.

Comer Health and Rehabilitation in Madison County, with a resident census of 96, went from eight COVID Positive Residents on May 15 to 52 COVID Positive Residents on May 18.

Oconee County’s High Shoals Health and Rehabilitation nursing home in New High Shoals in the west of the county added five COVID Positive Residents from May 15 to May 18 and one more COVID Positive Staff.
