State Reports List Two COVID-19 Deaths On Monday--One In Oconee

The Northeast Health District added 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday in the Daily Status Report and one death, pushing up the seven-day rolling average for added cases but producing no change in the seven-day rolling average for added deaths.

The 44 cases were not evenly spread around the 10-county District. Clarke, Morgan and Oglethorpe counties did not add any cases. Oconee County added four cases, and Walton County added the most cases, 19.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 84.3 on Monday from 83.0 on Sunday.

The death was of a 68-year-old female in Walton County with a chronic condition. That brings to 66 the number of deaths from the disease in Walton County–the most in the 10-County Northeast Health District.

The total number of deaths listed in the Daily Status Report for the District as a whole is now 289, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths is 1.6, the same as on Sunday.

The Department of Community Health also reported one death in its Long-Term Care Facility Report on Monday–at Magnolia Estates of Oconee, 1641 Virgil Langford Road, south of SR 316. This is the first death from the disease reported at the facility, which now has 26 residents.

In addition, the Department of Community Health Report listed three new cases of COVID-19 among the residents of the Oconee County personal care home. The total number of residents who have had COVID-19 is listed as eight, with six currently infected.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (53) was down from the day before, that the number of ICU beds in use (63) was the same as the day before, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (29) decreased from the day before.
