Two Qualify For County Commission; Four Qualify in Watkinsville
In the first day of qualifying, Amrey Hardin and Aaron Nowak filed as Republicans in the special election for County Commission.

Two candidates filed on Monday as Republicans in the first day of qualifying for the special election on Nov. 3 to fill Post 3 on the Oconee County Board of Commissioners.
Amrey Harden, who had announced his plans to run for the open spot, filed, as did Aaron Nowak, a newcomer who had not previously indicated his plans to seek the open slot in the non-primaried special election on Nov. 3.
Incumbent Christine Tucker qualified for Post 4 on Watkinsville City Council, but incumbents Marci Campbell in Post 3 and Dan Matthews in Post 5 did not file their paperwork by the end of the day on Monday.

Jeff Campbell, Marci Campbell’s husband, and Brett Thomas filed for Post 3, and Carolyn Maultsby filed for Post 5.
Qualifying continues through 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last week, three candidates qualified for the special election for District Attorney for the Western Judicial Circuit, Deborah Gonzales, Brian Patterson and James Chafin.
Gonzalez and Chafin are from Athens-Clarke County, while Patterson is from Oconee County.
